OLEOSOMES

Tiny little orbs of nutrients

What are oleosomes?

Extracted from seeds, they are micro-oil droplets composed of a protein and phospholipid barrier with a fatty acid interior. Oleosomes store the plant's energy and vital nutrients used by the seeds until they germinate.

They are rich in Linoleic Acid, an essential fatty acid for moisture locking.

On the skin, they rapture at different times, gradually dispersing fatty acids and antioxidants and providing long-lasting moisture.

Published scientific research on the benefits of Oleosomes in topical skin application

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) oleosomes are unique organelles that house triglycerides and fatty acids and demonstrate a natural resilience to environmental stresses. There is recent growing interest in safflower oleosomes due to their potential applications in dermatology, especially as a carrier technology to improve drug penetration through the skin.
